1934

1934: Davey's founding

In a venture to open a solo enterprise in Carlton, Victoria, Frank Davey founded his very own shop known as F. W. Davey & Co. Electrical Engineers back in 1934, and have since grown into the iconic Australian brand well-recognised for its innovation and development of pumps, alongside their water management remedies.

1940s: Building reputation

With an original business model being part of the automotive electrical industry, Davey soon expanded, and rapidly at that, inventing and introducing water pumping systems while establishing its fable for enduring, high-quality products.

1940s

1950s

1950s: Expansion to Sydney

The founder Frank Davey, a gentlemen in his suit and a lady posing for a photo in front of F. W. Davey & Co's new shop that is now opened in Sydney, Australia, to increase the coverage of water pump sales.

The first generic all-purpose water pump was introduced, and Davey’s expansion have spread countrywide. In addition, a branch office was soon opened in Sydney.

In the same period was the yellow branding establishment that is visibly associated with Davey, solidifying its presence and the naming connection.

1960s: First swimming pool pump

While general-duty water pumps were being sold, a more concrete focus on the specialisation of water pumps took place.

Davey have since launched its very first swimming pool pump, capturing a new market segment altogether in a bid to increase more audience.

1970s

1970s: Award-winning DynaFlo pump

Davey's DynaFlo water pump being featured in an old news coverage with a headline stating that the product is a finalist of Prince Philip Award back in 1981. The context of the news is as followed: "In Septemebr 1980, Davey Pumps was presented with an Australian Design Award for their Dynaflo Models 5100 and 5130 low cost electric pumps, the first ever given to a centrifugal water pump. Davey Pumps are now proud to announce that their DynaFlo has been chosen as one of the 11 finalists for the Prince Philip Prize, which will be televised nationally on Channel 2 on October 10th and attended in person by H.R.H. Prince Philip. The DynaFlo is a small versatile .3 kW electric pump and is said by the manufacturers to be ideal for such applications as: above ground swimming pools, spa baths, header tank, tiling, garden sprinkling, hosing down jobs, garden waterfalls and fountains, septic tank final stage effluent pumping and general water transfer work. In its presentation of the Award, the Industrial Design Council of Australia congratulated Davey Pumps on the high standards of design and manufacture."

Constant creative innovation leads have brought Davey the Australian Design Award that was given to the winning DynaFlo Water Pump throughout the 1970s and 80s.

Within the same timeframe, Davey begun penetrating and exporting into New Zealand.

Davey Water Products Pty Ltd also acquired technologies centred to contamination control, plunging into the fire safety and water treatment industries.

1970s: Davey's renowned firefighter pump introduced

The now-legendary Davey Firefighter water pump was also launched into the market. This is a product line that still remains foundational in Australian firefighting, emergency water solutions,​ and water transfer.

1990s: Embracing advanced manufacturing techniques

An automated assembly of Davey Malaysia where its production line are machine automated for precision accuracy ensuring a consistent manufacturing of water pumps in its practices. A native Australian aboriginal in full protective clothings of eyeglass protection, gloves, sleeves and neon-coloured shirt supervises the parts at each step of the water pump creating procedure to ensure tiptop quality before it becomes released to the public.

Advancement in industrialisation and pipeline processing became focused, and Davey began to embrace higher tiers of manufacturing techniques. This also includes plastic injection moulding.

This cycle of refinement within the production line continues from the year 2000 until this very day.

1990s: Davey Water Products' RainBank

Davey's water pump with a proprietary Rain Bank controller attached that is designed to capture the natural rain resource found. The stated controller has a sensor to detects a drop in its water tank so it would re-collect once again.

Similarly, in a cause focusing towards conservation and environmentalism means, the eco-friendly thoughtful engineers introduced the RainBank pump, pioneering the harvesting of rainwater with a controller.

2000s

2000s: Global exporting

A large ship of logistics are taken in the shipyard where cranes are offloading its freight into the boat to signify Davey's interest to export water pump worldwide.

Davey begun scaling upward in an effort for the global trade, and since the early 2000s, Davey have resolved the many market-entry difficulties and successfully exported into 50 countries and more.

2000s: Monsoon IQ2 water system introduction

Simultaneously, Davey’s Monsoon IQ2 water system was introduced. The reputation buildup in complete water management solutions becomes further enhanced among industrialists.

As of 1st September 2023, Waterco has completed the full acquisition of Davey Water Products Pty Ltd.

With nearly a century-worth of experience and modernised innovation, the Australian manufacturing quality and resilience commitment remains while serving markets and customers across the globe.

Further expansion into Southeast Asia is seen, where Davey Malaysia is now set up within 2024.
