For below-ground water management applications, Davey’s TotalFlo submersible sump pumps deliver quiet and reliable performance for pumping clean and wastewater containing soft solids of up to 18mm. Available in models TF180S and TF230S, these pumps are suitable for wastewater sumps, garden features, and general drainage applications, making them well suited to everyday residential requirements. Their exceptionally quiet operation helps minimise disturbance in household environments, while the automatic float switch provides convenient, hands-free operation. The pumps can handle water temperatures of up to 40°C and can be submerged to depths of up to 5 metres. Each unit is supplied with a 2” BSP(F) outlet and 1¼” reducer, providing flexible connection options for a range of residential pumping applications.

The TotalFlo series can be differentiated into three different categories of pump, featuring a venturi tube that defines a jet pump, a multistage version for heavy-duty application, and lastly, the submersible pump variant for dewatering floods and wastes.
For basic single-storey household application, TF40J-18 and TF50J-18 water pumps are more than capable of pressurising every need, while the iteration with multiple impellers is designed for up to 2 storey housing.
For the submergible version, both TF180S and TF230S are the latest introduction to be supplied throughout Southeast as of 2026.
Method of Identification
Davey Water Products has maintained a unique product identification methodology throughout its extensive history of more than 90 years, supporting the efficient cataloguing, supply, and distribution of centrifugal pumps and other water treatment products across the supply chain.
For TotalFlo water pumps, the identification and serialisation system is structured according to three key elements:
- An abbreviation of the pump name.
- A numerical figure representing the pump’s volumetric flow rate
- An alphabetical designation identifying the TotalFlo pump type.
Based on the example shown in the diagram on the right, the TotalFlo water pump has the SKU TF230S. In this identification code, “TF” represents the TotalFlo product name, while “230” indicates the pump’s output capacity of 40 litres per minute (LPM). The letter “S” identifies the pump type as a submersible pump. Together, these elements provide a concise and systematic way of identifying the pump’s key specifications and configuration.
The fixed sequencing system provides each TotalFlo water pump with a unique identifier, allowing specific pumps and their required components to be easily referenced and retrieved when repair or servicing is carried out by Davey Malaysia’s retailers. In addition, these identification numbers are used to track TotalFlo water pumps throughout the distribution and delivery network.
Internally, the permanent serial number enables the accurate identification and retrieval of the relevant centrifugal pump, particularly when processing purchase orders or sourcing replacement components. This standardised practice is essential across Davey offices, where extensive in-house inventories are maintained and systematic serialisation ensures efficient sorting, identification, and retrieval of electropumps.

Installing And Operating Instructions
The TotalFlo range of submersible sump pumps is designed to handle clean and wastewater containing small soft solids of up to 18mm in suspension. Their exceptionally quiet operation makes them particularly suitable for residential applications, including sullage pits, waterfalls, and general drainage. The pumps are designed to handle wastewater, clean water, and water containing mild pollutants at ambient temperatures up to a maximum of 40°C. They must not be used to pump flammable or corrosive fluids or liquids exceeding the specified temperature limit. If there is any uncertainty regarding the suitability of a particular fluid, users should consult their TotalFlo dealer for appropriate advice before operating the pump.
Installation Guide
The TotalFlo pump is fully submersible to a depth of up to 5 metres and should be installed in an upright, vertical position on a solid, level surface. Where a suitable surface is unavailable, the pump may be positioned on a stable timber support or house bricks. The pump should always be installed above any settled silt, sediment, or debris to prevent blockages and ensure reliable operation. For optimum flow performance, it is recommended that the largest practical hose diameter is used. When installing the pump in a deep well or pit, attach a suitable rope securely to the pump handle to allow the unit to be safely lowered, lifted, or removed when required.
For automatic models, the pump should be installed in a sump of sufficient size to allow the float switch to move freely without obstruction. The automatic pump units are fitted with factory-set float switches that regulate the appropriate high (ON) and low (OFF) water levels, enabling the pump to start and stop automatically as the water level changes.
Motor Cooling
All TotalFlo models rely on adequate water flow around the motor housing to provide effective motor cooling during operation. Although the pumps can operate while partially submerged, this condition should only be maintained for short periods of up to 10 minutes. If the pump is required to operate for longer than 10 minutes while partially submerged, or if sufficient water flow around the motor housing cannot be guaranteed, additional cooling should be provided. In these situations, it is recommended that a low-flow cooling jet of approximately 2–3 L/min be directed continuously over the motor housing. This may be necessary when the pump is installed in large tanks, ponds, or other applications where normal water circulation around the motor cannot be assured.
Power Connection
A power connection point should be provided by a qualified electrician, in compliance with the requirements of AS 3000. Single phase models are rated for 220/240 Volts, 50Hz operation, and may be connected to a standard 10 amp power outlet.
All single phase models have automatic reset thermal overload protection built in, ie. should overload on motor cause
thermal to open circuit and switch motor off, it will automatically reset and switch the motor on when the motor has cooled down sufficiently, usually within a few minutes.
NOTE:
If the cord is damaged, the appliance should be repaired by a qualified Davey Water Products Pty Ltd’s Service Centre. The supply cord must only be replaced by a suitably qualified person with a genuine TotalFlo replacement supply cord.
1. Long extension leads should be avoided as they often have insufficient current carrying capacity to run electric motors, hence they can cause substantial voltage drop and operating problems.
2. Minimum voltage at the electric motor must not fall below 216 Volts for single phase, otherwise motor damage may result which is not claimable under guarantee.
3. If the electrical fittings in your country make it necessary to remove the plug (where fitted) from the lead fitted to the motor, care should be taken to ensure that the earth conductor green / yellow in the lead is properly connected to a good earth. This work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified person.
4. Expansion and contraction inside the motor due to heating and cooling is vented via the lead. The lead end must never be sealed off, but must always be open to the atmosphere.
5. ALWAYS disconnect pump from power supply prior to commencing ANY maintenance or adjustment.
Fault Check
Pump will not start:
Manual Type
- Check to ensure power is available and the outlet is switched ON.
- Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker (replace/reset or call an electrician).
- If an extension lead is fitted, check connection.
- Impeller jammed – disconnect from power supply, and ensure impeller is free to rotate.
Thermal cut-out switch has not reset (wait 5 minutes).
If pump does not start from new then the seal has possibly stuck due to the length of time it has been standing since it was manufactured. In this case, disconnect from power supply, remove bottom strainer and turn the impeller nut clockwise, this will release the initial friction on the seal and once the power is connected will allow the pump to work.
Auto Type (with float switch)
- Check all in (1) above.
- Float switch jammed against sump side wall.
- Insufficient liquid to place the float switch in the ON position, i.e. higher than the horizontal.
Pump runs, but does not pump water or pumps insufficient water:
- Insufficient liquid in sump.
- Strainer, impeller and/or discharge pipework blocked.
- Impeller damaged.
- Air lock in discharge pipework. Ensure pump is filled with water.
- Excessive back pressure or lift.
Pump will not stop:
Manual Type
- Must be switched off at the power supply.
Auto Type (with float switch)
- Float switch is prevented from moving to the fully down position.
- Float switch may be faulty.
Pump runs for short periods only (the overload protection has tripped):
- Some foreign body is clogging the impeller.
- The liquid temperature is too high.
- Pump operating in non submerged position or with no water movement around motor.
- Electrical fault.
Do not run the pump dry as this will damage the seal and reduce the life of the pump.
Where hair, lint or other string-like material may be in the water, the pump should be regularly checked. It might become necessary sometimes to clean the suction strainer, impeller and/or discharge pipework.
With simple cleaning and regular examination this pump should give reliable service. In the event of seal failure, pollution of the pumped liquid could occur due to leakage of the seal lubricant.
TotalFlo Warranty
TotalFlo products will be (under normal use and service) free of defects in material and workmanship from the date of original
purchase for the period specified under the Warranty Period.
Warranty Period: 2 years
As notified, no spare parts or repair facilities (infield or workshop service) are available for TotalFlo products. If your TotalFlo product is defective we will replace the TotalFlo product free of charge.
TotalFlo Sump Pump Warranty Procedure
Problem solve using the Installation & Operating Instructions, especially the troubleshooting sections. If this does not solve the problem, or the product is suspected of being defective, stop using it and contact the original place of purchase for advice.
If the dealer you purchased the TotalFlo product from could not help you resolve the issue, they may require you to return the product to them for review and inspection. Returning the product to the place of purchase is at your cost and is your responsibility. You must provide evidence of the date of original purchase (i.e. dated receipt) as proof of purchase.
The warranty claim will be assessed by us on the basis of our product knowledge and reasonable judgement and will be accepted if:
– a relevant defect is found
– the warranty claim is made during the relevant Warranty Period; and
– none of the excluded conditions listed below apply
You will be notified of the warranty decision, and if it has been accepted your replacement product will be dispatched to the dealer for collection from where you purchased it from. If your warranty claim is found to be invalid you must organise collection of the product at your expense or authorise its disposal.
The TotalFlo warranty does not cover normal wear and tear or apply to a product that has:
- been subject to misuse, neglect, negligence, damage or accident.
- not been used, operated or maintained in accordance with the Installation and Operating Instructions.
- not been installed in accordance with the specified instructions or by suitably qualified personnel.
- been modified or altered from original specification, had repairs attempted or tampered with in any way.
- been subject to conditions such as incorrect voltage supply, lightning or high voltage spikes, or damage or,
- breakdown from exposure to electrolytic action, cavitation, sand, corrosive, saline or abrasive liquids.
To the extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any loss of profits or any consequential, indirect or special loss, damage or injury of any kind whatsoever arising directly or indirectly from TotalFlo products. This limitation does not apply to our liability for failure to comply with a statutory consumer guarantee applicable to your TotalFlo product under local laws and does not affect any corresponding rights or remedies that may be available to you under local laws.
In this regard, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under certain consumer laws (including the Australian Consumer Law). For example, if you purchase our goods in Australia you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
