Overview of Davey's Mukmova Effluent Pump
The Mukmova and Jumbo Mukmova effluent pumps by Davey are heavy-duty horizontal centrifugal surface pumps designed for transferring wastewater, sewage, waste water, sludge, and industrial wastewater containing suspended solids. These pumps are commonly used in septic systems, septic tanks, wastewater treatment plants, industrial factories, farms, hospitals, gyms, and small industrial facilities, where liquid waste must be moved from sump, chamber, drain, influent line, pond, or river intake to a controlled discharge or disposal point.
Operating as part of a sewage treatment and water treatment process, the Mukmova pump supports pollution control by enabling safe movement of cloudy liquid containing bacteria, chemical residue, and organic matter. Its role is critical in reducing water pollution, supporting recycling, and maintaining system efficiency in industrial and municipal waste water treatment plants.
Effluent Pump Types
The effluent pump range consist of two main categories:
1) Mukmova standard models
2) Jumbo Mukmova models
The standard Mukmova models 25301 and 25303 are aimed at moderate wastewater and sewage transfer application, including small treatment systems and septic tanks.
Jumbo Mukmova models, MM07/3 and MM09/3 are designed to have higher flow rates, greater hydraulic head and larger solid passage that can suit the industrial wastewater, activated sludge systems as well as treatment plants.
The motor power, electric supply, hydraulic capacity and solids handling performance are differentiated by each product code so that the appropriate product is chosen to match each installation.
Method of Identification
The product code is used to identify the pump model, size category, and performance class. It helps customers, installers, and suppliers quickly recognize the pump’s capacity, construction type, and electrical configuration.

The numeric codes 250301 and 25303 are Davey internal model identifiers.
The last numerical figure, 1, of 2530 1 indicates the phase. 1 is for single-phase, whereas 3 is for three-phase.

Robust Mounting & Installation Flexibility
The pumps can be installed on the surface horizontally, with the base mount holes which ensure mechanical stability of the pump.
Jumbo Mukmova models with companion flanges to enable them to be easily integrated into the pipelines with either a check valve, filter or discharge line to enhance the accuracy or installation and durability.
TEFC Motor
The pumps have TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) motors that are manufactured by Davey. These motors are over-rated to give a large power reserve which enhances reliability under heavy loads. Single-phase models are capacitor start/capacitor run (CSCR) and have automatic motor overload protection that auto-resets. The motors are all rated to IP56/IP55, which means that they are resistant to dust and strong jets of water.
Large Motor to Provide Power Reserve
Every model has oversized motors to give them enough reserve capacity when operating under heavy load. This is to provide a steady performance in pumping of viscous liquids or fluids with solids that will avoid overheating and enhance long life of the motor.
Thermal & Electrical Protection
Single phase models are fitted with automatic resetting motor over load protection which protects the motor against over-heating. Three-phase models are intended to be used with external magnetic contractors, as well as thermal overloads; a single-phasing protection is highly suggested to avoid a damage to the motors.
Wide Operating Temperature Range
These sump effluent pumps can be used in a large temperature limit. Standard models accommodate liquids to 50°C and Jumbo Mukmova models can accommodate liquids up to 90°C so they suit warm industrial effluent and process liquids.
Inlet
Inlet sizes vary by model.
The Mukmova 25301 and 25303 have a 2½ inch BSP female inlet with the Jumbo Mukmova MM07/3 and MM09/3 having a 2 inch BSP female inlet.
All models will have a minimum suction pipe size of 2 inches, which will ensure sufficient flow and minimize the possibility of cavitaion.
Self-Priming Capability
The Jumbo Mukmova models are self-priming models which have the ability of removing the air in the suction line and the pump starts pumping without utilizing a foot valve.
This makes it easier to install and the chances of blockage that is normally attributed to effluent use in the foot valves is greatly minimized. The pump can support prime even when it is in operation.
High Solids Handling & Anti-Blockage Design
The Mukmova and Jumbo Mukmova pumps are actually meant to deal with liquids with high contents of suspended solids without being easily clogged.
This is attained by use of open and semi-vortex designs of impellers that provide greater flow passages to the pump and decreases chances of solids being confined within the pump. The design is used in preference over the traditional closed impellers since soft solids, sludge and fibrous material travel through smoothly.
Jumbo Mukmova models can work with solids up to 30 x 40 mm, and they can be used in such fields as effluent transfer, agricultural waste, and industrial slurry pumping. To the customer, this means that there is constancy in the performance, fewer blockages, and less unexpected downtimes particularly in the severe operating environments.
Heavy-Duty Construction & Abrasion Resistance
One of the major strengths of Mukmova sewage effluent pump range is durability and this has been attained by incorporation of strong cast iron parts in the pump assembly.
Casing and impeller are cast in solid cast iron which is very strong mechanically and strong against impact. The Jumbo Mukmova models have an armored volute plate constructed of nodular cast iron to safeguard the high wearing sites to abrasive and corrosive liquids.
This is a volute plate that is capable of resisting the long-term use of solids suspended in the environment, increasing the working life of the pump considerably. Prolonged service intervals, less wear-related failures, and overall reduced ownership costs are enjoyed by the customers, especially where it is used in continuous or heavy-duty application.
This design increases the life of pumps in extreme designs of industrial, sewage and wastewater treatments and reduces maintenance expenses and replacement.
Easy Maintenance & Serviceability
The Mukmova pump line has been built to be maintenance efficient whereby the routine inspection and servicing can be performed in a fast and safe manner. The Standard Mukmova models have inspection covers which are fastened using wing nuts giving operators easy access to the internal parts without using any special equipment.
The Jumbo Mukmova models have galvanized steel inspection doors and volute plate that is not screwed; this makes the maintenance process even easier. These characteristics minimize the necessity of full disassembly of the pump reducing downtime that is used during services.
As a customer, it is easy to maintain, cheaper labor costs, quick troubleshooting, and continuity of operation which is very important in industrial and agricultural processes where failure of pumps can interfere with the whole operational process.
Impellers & Diffusers
The Mukmova effluent pumps have an open van impeller of semi-vortex type and the Jumbo Mukmova series have an open impeller of full type.
Such impeller is designed in such a way that they can permit large solid flow with minimum obstruction.
Mukmova models can handle sizes up to 20 mm and Jumbo Mukmov models can handle solid sizes up to 30 x 40 mm, and are thus suitable in abrasive and contaminated liquids.
Backplate & Mechanical Seal
The standard Mukmova models use a grease-packed mechanical seal with a grease nipple for extended service life. Seal faces are constructed from ceramic and carbon materials.
Jumbo Mukmova models use high-performance mechanical seals with silicon carbide faces and Viton® elastomers, providing superior resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and high temperatures.
O-Ring Tightened And Vibration-Absorbent Spacers

O-rings and gaskets in the Mukmova models are made from nitrile rubber, ensuring good chemical resistance and sealing performance.
Jumbo Mukmova models use paper fibre gaskets and Teflon shaft slims, selected for durability under harsh operating conditions.

Single phase models should be restricted to no more than 20 stars per hour.
Three phase (415V) models must be connected to a suitable magnetic contactor with M10 rated “quick trip” thermal overloads. Single phasing protection is strongly recommended.
