Overview of Davey's Sewage Grinder Submersible Pump
Ideal for breaking down raw sewage
Davey submersible Grinder pumps consist of a solids handling grinder inlet with a high head open impeller to pump wastewater containing soft solids in suspension. Suitable applications include grey and black water pumping, sump emptying, septic effluent and raw sewage disposal, and pumping wastewater with soft solids in suspension.
Grinder pumps are typically used for heavy duty shredding with a grinding ring at the input point, and have an open impeller, centrifugal design preventing blockages of the pump or pipework. A 304SS grade steel for the shaft, motor shell and fasteners ensure a long service life.
With silent operation and quick, easy installation, the Davey Grinder range is a low maintenance product to help pump soft organic solids, sanitary products, thin rubber and even some textiles by shredding them into a slurry, easily pumped from there.
Models in the range:
- D120G – single phase, 1.2kW
- DT12G – three phase, 1.2kW
- DT22G – three phase, 2.2kW
Davey recommends utilising SR50 slide rail kits with Grinder pumps, for easy removal and servicing. There is a choice of either single or three phase motors.
Applications
Ideal for grey and black water pumping, sump emptying, septic effluent and sewage disposal and pumping of waste water with soft solids in suspension.

Hydraulic Performance
Installation And Priming
Use a rope to position and retrieve the pump. Do not lower or retrieve the pump using the power lead as this may damage the cable entry seals, causing water leaks and unsafe operation.
Do not use this product for recirculating or filtering swimming pools, spas, etc. While these pumps are built to high safety standards, they are not approved for installations where people will be in the water while they are operating.
Do not pump abrasive materials. Sand and grit in the water being pumped will accelerate wear, causing shortened pump life.
Keep your pum clean, particularly in situations where lint, hair or fibrous materials may get bound around the pump shaft. Regular inspection and cleaning will extend pump life.
Make room for the float switch to operate. Automatic models have a float switch to turn them on when the water level rises and turn them off again when it has been pumped down to the safe operating level of the pump. If the float switch is not free to rise and fall, correct pump operation may not be possible.
Do not run your pump dry. Non-automatic models must be switched off manually or by way of an external float / level switch when the water level is reduced to the top of the pump housing.
