Overview of Davey's Shallow Well Water Jet Pump
The Davey’s Shallow Well Water Jet Pump range (models 095S, 095S1T, 125S, 125S1T, and 165S0, 165S1T) is designed for construction, plumbing, irrigation, and residential water supply systems. These pumps are ideal for drawing liquid water from dams, creeks, rivers, boreholes, aquifers, and storage tanks where the suction lift does not exceed 7.5 meters (24.6 ft).
They are commonly used for tank filling, potable water (drinking water), stock watering, sprinkler systems, car wash, booster washer, and general farm water supply. Built with corrosion-resistant materials, the pump features a marine-grade aluminium casing with internal Rilsan® lining, protecting against soil salination, groundwater exposure, and environmental stresses.
The series comes with a 2-year guarantee and complies with ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) standards, ensuring water security and safe operation in house, garden, and DIY home systems.
The Davey’s Shallow Well Water Jet Pump is widely recognized for its adaptability in hydrogeology, groundwater treatment, and aquifer management, making it suitable for both residential houses and heavy-duty farm irrigation.

Method of Identification
The numeric value within the product code of the Shallow Well (095, 126, 165) represents the pump’s maximum capacity.
Towards the last section of the identifier, the letter “S” denotes Shallow Well configuration, meaning the pump is designed for suction lifts up to 7.5 m (24.6 ft) and does not require a deep well injector system.
For the Torrium2 digital controller iteration, the end includes a number “1” which indicates single-phase operation.
The final letter “T” symbolises that the system includes the Torrium2 controller.
Attachment

Pressure Tank
Although not supplied as a built-in component, the pump is suitable for operation in conjunction with a Davey Supercell pressure tank.
When connected to a pressure tank, the system becomes an automatic pressure water supply system.
The pressure tank stores pressurised water and reduces frequent pump cycling, thereby improving energy efficiency, maintaining more stable water pressure, and extending pump lifespan by minimising start-stop operation.

Pressure Switch
A pressure switch is fitted as standard on all complete pump models.
This component enables automatic pressure system operation without requiring manual intervention.
It ensures that the pump responds to water demand changes by activating when pressure and deactivating when sufficient pressure is restored.
This feature allows the pump to function efficiently in domestic and irrigation systems where water demand varies.

Pressure Controller (Torrium2 – Model TT70)
The Shallow Well Jet Pump is integrated with the Torrium2 electronic controller (TT70), which replaces the traditional pressure switch and pressure tank system. The Torrium2 continuously monitors water flow and system pressure, automatically starting the pump when a tap is opened and stopping it when water demand ceases. Unlike conventional pressure switches that operate based purely on pressure differential, the Torrium2 operates based on flow detection, allowing the system to deliver more consistent water pressure.
Additionally, the controller provides loss-of-prime protection by detecting abnormal flow conditions and automatically shutting down the pump to prevent dry running. It also incorporates built-in surge protection (varistor) to safeguard internal electronics against voltage spikes, improving system reliability in rural power supply conditions.
Pump Mounting Base
Although the system does not include a full skid frame, it is equipped with durable, corrosion-resistant mounting feet that provide stability during operation. These mounting feet help reduce vibration transmission and allow secure installation on flat concrete or structural bases. Proper mounting ensures alignment stability and reduces mechanical stress on pipe connections.
40mm / 50mm Barrel Union (BSP Fitting)
The inlet size is 1½” BSP Female, and the outlet size 1¼” BSP Female, requiring compatible BSP fittings.
The barrel union pare is one of the most, if not, the most crucial component when it comes to integrating the water pump with an existing hydration system, just as it seamlessly matches two separately found piping sizes to enable a continuous water flow rate from one area of reservoir to the designated source.
A watertight O-ring can also be discovered as part of the attachment needed to seal three-piece fitting from leaking liquids out of the Shallow well centrifugal pump.
Interchangeable Jet And Venturi Kits
One of the key features of the Shallow Well Jet Pump is its interchangeable jet and venturi system.
Different jet kit numbers (e.g., 22690, 22693, etc.) allow the pump’s hydraulic performance to be adjusted to match required duty conditions.
Uses the venturi effect for suction and intake efficiency. Adaptable for car wash, booster washer, irrigation, and potable water treatment systems.

TEFC Motor
The Davey Shallow Well Jet Pump is fitted with a Davey-manufactured electric motor designed for reliable performance in demanding farm and irrigation in demanding farm and irrigation environments. The motor operates at 2-pole, 2900 rpm, 50Hz, delivering consistent fixed-speed operation suitable for high-pressure water supply applications. Single-phase models operate on a 220-250V power supply, while the 165S model is also available in 380-450V three-phase configuration, providing flexibility for higher-capacity installations.
The Davey’s Shallow Well Water Jet Pump motor is engineered for heavy-duty, portable, and modern booster washer systems, ensuring reliable operation in both residential houses and construction sites.
For single-phase models, the motor uses a Permanently Split Capacitor (PSC) design, incorporating P2 metal jacket “fail-safe” capacitors to enhance starting reliability and operational stability. The motor is equipped with double contact seal C3 high-temperature greased bearings, ensuring smooth rotation, reduced friction, and extended service life. Additionally, all single-phase models include inbuilt thermal overload protection with automatic reset, which protects the motor from overheating dua to overload or abnormal operating conditions.
The motor housing is constructed from aluminium with a polyester powder-coated finish, providing corrosion resistance and long-term durability. Overall, the motor is engineered to deliver dependable performance, low maintenance operation, and strong protection against environmental and electrical stresses.
LTEFC Motor with IP56 Protection
The pump is powered by a Davey LTEFC (Long Term Enclosed Fan Cooled) motor with an IP56 protection rating. This provides strong resistance against dust ingress and water spray, making it suitable for harsh farm environments. The motor is also designed to handle high ambient temperatures and voltage fluctuations, improving reliability in remote areas.
Suction Inlet
The Shallow Well Jet Pump features a 1 ½” BSP Female suction inlet and a 1 ¼” BSP Female discharge outlet.
The pump is designed for a maximum suction head of 7.5 meters, making it suitable for shallow water sources such as dams, tanks, rivers, and creeks.
Proper suction pipe sizing and installation of a quality foot valve are essential to prevent air leakage and loss of prime, ensuring stable and efficient pump operation.
Hydrogeology & Water Safety: The Davey’s Shallow Well Water Jet Pump supports groundwater extraction from aquifers, dug wells, sand points, artesian wells, and tube wells. Proper installation prevents contamination from bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi, and feces, which can casue waterborne diseases.
Darcy’s Law and Groundwater Flow Equation: Darcy’s Law and Groundwater Flow Equations apply to aquifer tests when determining pump efficiency. Ensures water security for residential houses, farms, and gardens. Can be used with submersible pumps or as a Shallow Well Booster Pump for potable water treatment.
Volute
The volute is a snail-shaped chamber built into a centrifugal pump to manage fluid flow after it leaves the impeller. As the impeller rotates, it imparts kinetic energy to the liquid, pushing it outward. The volute captures this high-speed fluid and gradually reduces its velocity by providing an expanding passageway. Through this controlled deceleration, kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy. By directing the fluid smoothly to the outlet, the volute not only enhances pressure generation but also minimizes turbulence and energy losses within the pump system.
Impeller & Diffuser
The pump is a single-stage jet assisted centrifugal design, meaning it uses one impeller to generate pressure while the jet/venturi system enhances suction performance.
The impeller is made from glass-filled polycarbonate, providing high strength, durability, and corrosion resistance.
The diffuser is constructed from glass-filled Noryl, which offers good dimensional stability and resistance to wear.
This combination ensures efficient energy transfer from the motor to the water while maintaining long-term reliability in clean water applications.
Backplate & Mechanical Seal
The backplate is manufactured from glass-filled Noryl, providing structural support and corrosion resistance within the pump assembly.
The mechanical seal consists of a ceramic stationary seal ring and a carbon rotating seal ring, forming a durable sealing interface that prevents water leakage along the motor shaft.
This seal arrangement ensures reliable performance under pressure while protecting the motor from water ingress.
O-Ring & Spacers

The pump uses nitrile rubber O-rings to provide effective sealing between pump components and prevent air or water leakage.
Nitrile material offers good resistance to water exposure and moderate temperature variations.
The priming plug incorporates an O-ring seal to allow secure hand-tighten operation. These sealing components help maintain prime and ensure consistent hydraulic performance.

Hydraulic Performance
Hydraulic performance varies depending on the selected jet kit. Different jet/venturi combinations (e.g., 22690, 22691, 22693, etc.) allow the pump to match required duty conditions.
Maximum shut-off pressures range approximately from 480 kPa up to 830 kPa, depending on model and jet kit selection.
Flow rate decreases as suction lift increases, following standard centrifugal pump characteristics.
