Overview of Davey's DynaPrime Water Transfer Pump
The DynaPrime manufactured by Davey Water Products Pty Ltd is an economical, compact, self-priming single-stage centrifugal transfer pump designed for Farm & Irrigation applications.
It is suitable for pumping clean or grey water containing small fibers or soft solids in applications such as water supply, water transfer, septic tank emptying, and draining of water tanks.
The pump delivers flows up to 195 liters per minute (L/min) and heads up to 18 meters (m) while operating on 220-250 Volt (V), 50 Hertz (Hz), Single Phase electrical supply.
Davey's DynaPrime Transfer Pump Variations
The transfer pump features a singular Model Number of 74101 as the designated product identification, with this alone gas no alternative model variations or size variants that are produced.
Method of Identification
The product is identified by Model Number 74101 and is categorized under Transfer Pumps within the Farm & Irrigation segment.
Certification
ISO 9001-Quality Management: Consistent production quality and product dependability are guaranteed by ISO 9001-Quality Management. All Davey products are manufactured using consistent standards throughout the supply chain thanks to this certificate.
Environmental Management, ISO 14001: Davey’s dedication to environmentally conscious design and production methods is demonstrated by the fact that manufacturing procedures adhere to ISO 14001 environmental management standards.
TEFC Motor
The pump is fitted with a Davey manufactured Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) electric motor operating on Single Phase 220-250 Volt (V), 50 Hertz (Hz) supply.
It has an input power (P1) of 0.95 kilowatt (kW) and delivers an output power (P2) of 0.70 kilowatt (kW), with a full load current of 4.4 Ampere (A) and locked rotor current of 18.0 Ampere (A).
The motor features IP55 enclosure protection, Class F insulation, Permanent Split Capacitor (P.S.C.) starting, and inbuilt thermal overload protection for safe and reliable operation.
It is constructed with a marine grade aluminum shell, baked polyester finish, and double contact C3-HTG sealed bearings, ensuring durability and stable performance in irrigation and transfer applications.
Suction Inlet
The pump is equipped with a 1 ¼ Inch BSP Female (BSP(F)) suction inlet, equivalent to approximately 32-millimeter (mm) nominal pipe diameter.
This threaded inlet connection is designed for rigid pipe installation and ensures secure hydraulic sealing within irrigation, agricultural, and water transfer systems.
The suction inlet supports a maximum self-priming suction head of 7.5 meters (m), which means the pump can lift water vertically from below the pump level after proper priming.
The installation instructions specify that suction lift systems require a good quality foot valve to prevent loss of prime and maintain hydraulic stability.
A priming plug located above the suction inlet allows manual filling of the pump casing and suction pipe before startup, ensuring the self-priming mechanics operates correctly.
Volute
In centrifugal pump design, the volute functions as the main pressure-converting chamber. When the impeller spins, it imparts velocity to the fluid through rotational motion. The fluid then enters the volute, where the passage widens progressively along the spiral path. As the space increases, the fluid velocity decreases and pressure rises. This controlled conversion process improves efficiency and ensures the fluid leaves the pump with the required discharge pressure.
Impellers & Diffusers
The pump utilizes a single-stage (1 stage) centrifugal hydraulic design, meaning energy transfer from the motor shaft to the fluid occurs through one rotating impeller only.
This configuration simplifies mechanical structure while maintaining efficient flow delivery up to 105 liter per minute (L/min).
The impeller is an Open vane type, specifically designed to allow passage of small fibers and soft solids commonly found in grey water and tank drainage applications.
A stainless-steel impeller wear plate is integrated behind the impeller to reduce erosion and mechanical wear caused by continuous centrifugal fluid movement.
Backplate & Mechanical Seal
The pump includes a mechanical shaft seal assembly, which prevents liquid leakage along the rotating shaft between pump and motor.
The seal assembly consists of:
- Carbon rotating seal ring
- Ceramic stationary seal ring
- 304 Stainless Steel seal spring
This combination provides balanced mechanical sealing under continuous rotation, protecting the motor from water ingress and ensuring reliable operation in irrigation and transfer applications.
O-Ring & Spacers
The pump casing incorporates Nitrile rubber O-rings, which provide sealing between casing components to maintain internal pressure and prevent leakage.
These O-rings are critical for maintaining the pump’s maximum casing pressure of 300 kilopascals (kPa) without fluid escape.
