The CY Series Vat Wash Pump is a portable electric water transfer system built around a reliable centrifugal transfer electro pump design for handling clean water, liquid, and general fluid movement. Known widely as Davey’s CY Water Transfer Pump, this system combines industrial, commercial, and heavy-duty construction with a compact footprint suitable for automatic tank filling, pressure boosting, and high flow pipe transfer operations.
This Davey’s CY Water Transfer Pump is engineered to support a wide range of applications including food grade washing systems, drinking water handling, chemical fluid transfer, and controlled sewage-compatible wash processes when operated within design limits. Its stainless-steel construction makes it suitable for hygienic environments such as dairy plants, washdown areas, and splash zones commonly found in fish processing or bottle washing facilities.
Because of its flexible configuration, this Davey’s CY Water Transfer Pump can function in portable hand-assisted transfer roles, small irrigation setups, and continuous cycle washing operations. Within some installations, the unit may also be referenced as a CY Transfer Water Pump, while in residential environments it can operate effectively as a Domestic Water Transfer Pump.
The unit uses a TEFC motor driven electric electropump arrangement, allowing the system to maintain consistent performance in environments requiring reliable pressure and flow stability. This design ensures Davey’s CY Water Transfer Pump remains suitable for continuous washdown and liquid transfer duties.
CY Vet Wash Water Transfer Pump Variations
The CY70A Series consists of three product variants:
CY70-75/A, CY70-90/A, and CY70-110/A. Each product code identifies a different performance level within the same CY Series transfer pumps centrifugal pump British Standard Pipe configuration, designed for integration into systems using common 2”, 3”, or 6” pipe layouts depending on system requirements.

Performance differences between models are mainly driven by electric motor output, hydraulic pressure capability, and flow rate capacity. Despite these variations, each model maintains the same stainless-steel construction and core operating principles used throughout the Davey’s CY Water Transfer Pump range.
Method of Identification

In Davey’s range, CY refers to a stainless-steel centrifugal transfer / wash pump series, mainly used for clean-water and washdown applications.
Pumps with the same “70” share the same general casing size, inlet/outlet arrangement, and construction design, while performance is varied using different motors and impellers.
For the numbers 75 / 90 / 110, this number represents the motor output class, roughly corresponding to the output power (P2) in tenths of a kilowatt:
CY70-75/A = approx. 0.75 kW
CY70-90/A = approx. 0.90 kW
CY70-110/A = approx. 1.10 kW
The suffix “/A” indicates a specific design or revision variant within the CY70 series. In this case, it denotes the single-phase, stainless-steel VAT wash configuration as supplied in the datasheet.

TEFC Motor
The pump is driven by a 2-pole TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) electric motor, available in 50Hz (220-240V) and 60Hz (110V or 220V) configurations. The motor is corrosion resistant and designed to exclude dust and dirt. It features Class F insulation, a permanently split capacitor design, and an automatically resetting thermal overload that protects against excessive temperature and current during operation.
Class F insulation: A high-performance electrical insulation system designed for motors, transformers, and generators, capable of withstanding a maximum operating temperature of 155°C (311°F). It offers superior thermal stability (25°C higher than Class B) and is commonly used in heavy-duty applications, high-power equipment, and environments with high ambient temperatures to prevent overheating and premature degradation.
Priming Plug: The priming plug is a threaded opening located on the pump casing above the suction inlet, used to manually fill the pump body and suction line with liquid before start-up. As the CY70A Series is a surface-mounted centrifugal pump, it cannot initially remove air from the suction line; therefore, priming is required to ensure the impeller is fully submerged in liquid. During installation or after maintenance, the priming plug is removed, the casing is filled with liquid, and the plug is reinstalled to seal the pump. Proper use of the priming prevents dry running, protects the mechanical seal from damage, and ensures reliable suction performance, especially in installations with suction lift where a foot valve is used to maintain prime.
Inlet
The CY70A Series is fitted with a 1¼” BSP female inlet. The pump is capable of operating with a maximum suction lift of 7 meters, provided correct installation and priming procedures are followed.
Impellers & Diffusers
The CY70A Series uses a closed vane impeller manufactured form 304 stainless steel. This impeller design provides stable hydraulic performance and high efficiency when pumping clean liquids. A stainless-steel diffuser is incorporated to guide flow and reduce hydraulic losses within the pump casing.
Backplate & Mechanical Seal
The pump is equipped with a mechanical shaft seal consisting of a ceramic stationary face and a carbon rotating face. This sealing arrangement ensures reliable leak prevention during continuous operation. A replaceable floating neck ring further reduces wear and maintains hydraulic efficiency over time.
O-Ring & Spacers
Sealing within the pump casing is achieved using EPDM or Viton O-rings, providing resistance to temperature and chemical exposure. Additional sealing components include EPDM or Viton bellows and a Teflon neck ring, ensuring durability and long service life.
